Marketing tips and ideas part 2
Written by Alan BrightWhen you're trying to decide what to spend your marketing budget on this year, make sure you don't overlook these simple tips and ideas.

Keep your word. Be reliable. Be honest. Be trustworthy. Marketing success is founded on these characteristics. |
22 |
Don’t let your marketing or design agency ‘retrofit’ what they think your marketing messages should be. Know your own values, be authentic, and brief the agency accordingly. |
23 |
Understand the basics of printing industry – paper sizes, print processes, and the differences in paper stocks and various finishing processes. |
24 |
If placing large amounts of print, use the services of a print buyer - it could save you thousands! |
25 |
Make sure your designers choose print sizes that maximise the printers sheet size. Don’t ‘cut to waste’ – see if there’s another job that could be run at the same time. |
26 |
Track your marketing spend. Know what ticks your customers boxes. Look for uniqueness. |
27 |
Make sure you add thousands of relevant keywords that relate to each page of your website. Use Video to drive traffic and to inform, and put it on YouTube. |
28 |
Infrequent advertising is a waste of money. Either advertise regularly or not at all. Choose your advertising media wisely. Don’t advertise there just because the competition do. |
29 |
Track advertising. Request right-hand pages (are seen more frequently), or display next to a relevant feature. |
30 |
DON’T be swayed by cheap last-minute offers. They often do not bring a return how ever cheap the offer is – remember the sales exec. has to fill the space with anything! |
31 |
Year books aren’t referred to very often, and even if they are, you may not be relevant. My advice is to steer clear unless there is a very strong case to advertise. Even then, assess the results before being included again! |
32 |
Websites are no longer ‘brochure-ware’ displays. Web2 means opening dialogues, building relationships and connecting with potential customers. |
33 |
Understand how to write for social media. If you haven’t the time or ability to write, then find a professional writer who can reflect your company ‘voice’. |
34 |
Free information and knowledge attract, but don’t give all your intellectual property away for nothing. We all have to make a profit! |
35 |
Never cut your marketing budget in a recession! When others fade from view, you will be better placed to pick up the opportunities. It makes you appear financially stronger as well! Cut something else if you have to.
